You live in a city called "Control".

Like all other residents,  you have access to special abilities like jumping and phasing but this comes at the cost of any control over your life.

Some speak of freedom, a way Out of Control...
But the further you get from the City (and the source of your abilites), the harder your escape will become.

It's as they say: "You run out of controls when you run out of Control..."

---

Controls:

Movement :- Arrows

Jump :- Up arrow

Duck :- Down arrow

Dash/Phase :- Z

Respawn:- R

Other controls:- Shh... it's a secret (just do what our good friend Alt says)

So this is my 2020 GMTK Jam submission.

I've always found the idea of a "reverse-metroidvania" interesting, where you lose abilities as you progress through the game.

This seemed like a great idea here where your controls are like resources for your character. The goal is be "out of controls" in the same way you could be "out of ammo".

This was combined with the story idea of being in a City that acts as an embodiment of the concept of Control. The further out of the City center you get, the less control you have.

Learned lots making this; Hope you enjoy!

There are some things missing in the GameJame version; didn't have time to do a last art pass so walls are all "minimalist" and by the half way point, room names get a bit "over-consistent" :D

Also, sprites for ducking... and a half dozen levels from near the end...

May do a polish pass and release a newer version; but for now taking a break ^_^

The soundtrack for the game was made by me and is available here:

Massive thanks to the following artists for art assets used in game.

Unfortunately the .exe won't work... I've mistakenly left out a Godot  .pck file from my upload...

You'll just need to play the Web version till voting period is over.

Thanks :)

I've realised the .exe file above won't work as I'm mistakenly left out the Godot .pck file...

Thankfully I submitted a HTML build...
